Oh, forgot to add a VERY important one.
Must - Freechild
Oh wow I love that song… odd because it makes me depressed whenever I hear it.

Hello In There - John Prine
Thanks, that song has been especially poignant for me lately.
dutchboy208has another good one in “Pictures of You” by The Cure.
And while most of Morrisey’s songs are somewhat depressing and sad, I’ll single out “Every Day Is Like Sunday” for one that always brings down my mood.
Bob Mould - “Thumbtack” is one I often turn to. Then again, Bob seems to know how to wrench the heart several times over. Like “Hardly Getting Over It” by Husker Du.
Nick Cave - “Far From Me”
The The - “This Is The Day”
Elvis Costello - “I Want You” and “Tramp The Dirt Down”
also do it for me. Then again, I guess I listen to a lot of depressing music.
I Remember Me - The Silver Jew
Admittedly, I haven’t heard a lot of the suggestions here, but this one beats the ones I HAVE heard, hands down.
Err, that should be “The Silver Jews”
