So a little while back, we had a cat turn up missing. She had escaped the house unnoticed. It was cold that night and it was dark out when we discovered her disappearance. We were checking nearby houses with flashlights, calling for her, when my daughter heard her under a neighbor’s house. Sadie had wedged herself into these concrete stairs and apparently couldn’t move. With Herculean strength, I mightily pulled the concrete stairs away from the house and my daughter grabbed the estranged animal. I had saved the day.
Whew! Scary story. I’d have been beside myself if I had an escaped cat on a cold dark night. such a relief that it ended well.
Yikes. How long was Sadie out mis-adventuring?
Is she spayed?
Glad she is safe.
Approximately 24 hours we aren’t sure. Yeah she was spayed when we rescued her at 4 months old. Thanks
It’s always a good read when at the end of the story everyone is ok. Glad you could rescue Sadie.
So glad Sadie’s home safe!
Buddy pulled a four-day disappearing act in May. When we did get him home, he was grounded until we got a tracker tag to put on his harness. He now wears two of them (different brands), along with the usual engraved ID tag with his name and contact info.
I like your belt and suspenders solution.
Redundancy can be a good thing. One tracker uses a network based on its own app, the other uses Google Find My Device. Usually, if one tracker hasn’t seen him for an unreasonable length of time, the other one has seen him more recently. Yes, he is chipped and registered with PetLink (as is our other cat).
It is funny my cat’s never leave. It’s not me. (Well, it kinda is…snackwise)
I think they are congregating to wait for my body to quit breathing.
Sometimes I see them staring a little bit creepily, if I sit too still, too long.
