I remember the song “Safety Dance” fondly. My taste in music is obviously not particulary high brow. But at the time I never managed to catch the music video that went with it. A few years ago I eventually dug it up on the series of interconnected tubes. The video was even odder than the song. Well, here is a parody of the song/video. This may be the most perfect parody I have ever seen. The new lyrics fit in perfectly. They match the scenes perfectly. Nothing feels forced. And to top it all off many of the lines are pretty damn funny.
Link safe for work, but watch the volume of course. Video component is bit too low res though.
Oddly enough, Rembert Browne, a writer for Grantland, reviewed this video upon first watch a few days ago. He’s 25 years old and has a running series where he reviews things from the 80’s and comments on how fucked up they were. His best was his review of the Very Special Episode of Punky Brewster where she had the fortitude to Just Say “No”.
