Just saw this video. Apparently there is one like this for A-Ha’s “Take on Me” out there as well.
Apparently, there are dozens of these out there. Just yesterday I discovered this was a “thing” – I watched a couple of them, but so far Total Eclipse Of The Heart is easily the best.
I’m not sure it can be beaten–I think it’s the acme of the genre.
Of course, now I have it stuck in my head, and though it’s completely hilarious, I’m not sure I want to hear it that often.

Hal - When I first saw the “Total Eclipse of the Heart” literal video it was imbeded in a webpage so I had no idea there were many others out there. I looked on YouTube and you are right, this is far more popular than I first thought. The Journey one is pretty good, but this one still seems the best to me so far. Maybe because I saw it first?
I also like the one for Penny Lane that was done by the same person who did Total Eclipse. John appears to be saying “bite me” to the cameraman. Random cop.
“Total Eclipse” is by far the best one yet, not least because it had such material to work with. I had forgotten just how ridiculous that video was.
“Take On Me” is great, too.
I had wondered if the same thing was coloring my feelings, but no – this one is just the funniest one I’ve seen so far.

I found it on VideoSift and showed it to my wife and we both laughed ourselves sick. It’s miles ahead of any other the other “Literal Lyrics” videos. Hard to believe that this was in constant rotation on MTV in the day.

I saw this this weekend when a friend linked me to it and I’ve shown it to some other friends, who have all loved it as well.

Wonderful videos! A great afternoon spent chasing them around the web… some are definitely better than others. I love the one done to Take Me On. But that Bonnie Tyler video just screams out for a parody set of lyrics!!
