I watched Primer as well. Just shoot me if I ever contemplate watching that remedy for insomnia again. It sounds much better on paper than it is on-screen.
I watched Safety Not Guaranteed. It was ok. I think they could have had a better ending that made it clear that the time machine worked, but not showing it actually happening.
We know the time machine works; read the ad again:
I thought it was pretty likely he was lying about that.
No, we know he said the time machine works. That’s the whole premise of the movie.
I’m actually surprised people saw the ending as unambiguous. I thought it was great we had no idea what happened to them. Something happened, obviously, but I thought it was equally likely they just vaporised themselves. Which still somehow works.
I recently tried to watch “Take Shelter”, but totally lost interest after about 30 minutes. Part of the reason I didn’t like it was because the deaf daughter was, what, 6 or 7 years old, and they’re only just now learning sign language? :dubious:
I thought parents were supposed to start learning ASL the day they found out their child was deaf, but apparently this is not the norm. I mentioned this on another board, and one poster said she’d worked in the field for over 20 years and had never once encountered hearing parents of a deaf child who had learned ASL beyond the very basics, and in most cases weren’t interested.
As for SNG, I did finish it but only because I wondered when it would get good. What kind of weirdo is obsessed about his co-workers’ virginity status anyway, let alone a guy who’s THIRTY-EIGHT YEARS OLD? And accusing his co-worker of being a lesbian in an employee meeting? That would get most people fired on the spot.
