Saggy Pants Leads to Passengers' Arrest

The way I read that article, his removal from the plane had nothing to do at all with his clothing. It seems pretty clear that it was his belligerent and arrogant attitude after being asked to adjust his clothing for the comfort of (well anyone really, it was just a request at this point) other passengers. The way he responded obviously came across as something that needed to be dealt with, and if I were an airline employee, I’d be concerned about the in-flight antics of some young tough guy who tries to throw his attitude around before he even gets on the plane.

Then when the CAPTAIN of the fucking plane asked him to leave the plane to resolve the issue out of sight of the other passengers, the punk said no, and God only knows how that went down, but it isn’t something that you do. If the captain of the plane asks you to do something, unless it’s something illegal, you do it. He just wanted to get the plane in the air for the OTHER PASSENGER’S sake, which the young guy didn’t care about. Once taken back down the jetway, and the police showed up, no doubt just to see what all the ruckus was about, young guy gets physical. Hence his arrest.

And the media tries to say it was his pants that got him arrested. Nope, it was his arrogant and belligerent attitude, followed his disrespect of clearly established authority, then his PUNCHING of a COP that got him arrested.

If you are gonna be astounded at this article, at least be astounded at the right things.

What did you call me? That’s a month in the hole.

Anyhoo. So we agree that there is some point that “fashion” can cross the line into a point where it should be rectified in public. You just draw your line at a different place than I do.

The airline wanted him to be safe in case of a BAD THING happening. He wouldn’t be able to move as quickly or efficiently, putting himself and others at risk.

That said, the airline “guidelines” for dress are rarely followed or enforced.
I don’t remember all of them but a couple are: Comfortable, natural fabrics, like cotton, covering all limbs. Nothing too loose or flowing that can impede movement. No nylon stockings, flat, secure shoes.

There is usually a copy available in the seat pocket, or by request.

Are the nylon stockings going to melt horribly onto your legs in the event of a crash?

If there’s a fire yes. I’ve worked in 2 burn ICUs nylon melts into the skin, making the damage deeper.
Cotton burns, rather than melting so it can be separated more easily, possibly leaving the skin underneath unburned or lightly so.
