I’m extremely happy she’s ok, and I hope that she makes a full recovery.
I never met her, yet I hung on edges hoping she would be okay.
She will. She’s strong. I can tell. Together, you are even stronger.
Wishing you both healing thoughts.
Glad to see the update! Best wishes for a speedy recovery.
It’s sad to see we now live in a country where a guard has to be posted at your wife’s door…I’m glad the hospital is treating this so seriously though.
Your wife is awesome and so are you.
Wow. I’m sorry she was injured, glad she is recovering, and grateful for her bravery in being out there to counter-protest.
Best wishes to your wife, and to you, Sailboat, and my hopes for a speedy and full recovery.
Thank you for posting Sailboat. I hope your wife gets better quickly. Take care of yourself too.
I hope the healing process goes as well as it can. She’s a hero and thanks for keeping us updated.
Thanks for the update. I wish you and your wife well through her recovery. She is a hero.
Glad she’s on the mend. Be sure to thank her for fighting Nazism on behalf of those of us who couldn’t be there.
So glad to get a positive update and hoping things go as smoothly as possible for both of you during her recovery.
Thanks for the update! I’m sending good thoughts your way.
Seriously, before she gets home, you should quietly move it to her dresser. See how long it takes her to notice it.
I’ve been on the road a lot this last month or so and I’ve had a whole bunch of very bad news in that time period too; Sailboat, your update was a good thing to read. I know I can’t have been the only person relieved once we figured out that the deceased was not First Mate (did we make that up or is that her Doper name?), but I know I was still afraid that the news was gonna be horrific. Somehow, it seems fairly positive to find that she is “only” seriously injured, in excruciating pain and going to have to go thru months or years of physical therapy.
But she’s got you, and you got her and y’all got us. Let us know if, how and when we can help.
Hehe, I know the feeling (“uh? All I did was call 911 and calm everybody down!”). Sometimes being a hero is a matter of being the one trained person at hand, sometimes of being the person who keeps their head when everybody else’s is rolling on the floor, and sometimes of doing something despite it carrying physical risks; normally we only refer to this last group as heroes if the risk does happen. Being attacked with a car is a bigger weapon that she was expecting to see, but I imagine she knew there might be violence. She accepted the risk and did the right thing despite that risk, and a murderer with a car happened.
I’m glad she’ll be able to return home; may she recover quickly and well, and the resulting media and trial circuses not be too horrible a pain.
I am glad to hear that she is on the mend, Sailboat. My best wishes to her for a full recovery; and to the both of you, because you both deserve them.
I made up the First Mate name. I actually was going to go with Luxury Yacht but that would have spawned a string of Monty Python references.

Best news I have heard coming out of this weekend’s horror. Give her my
Regards,

Another one checking in with best wishes for a speedy and hopefully uneventful recovery from surgery and the rest.
And Sailboat - please, remember to take care of yourself. It’s just as important to take care of the caregiver as the patient. More specifically: eat healthy. Try to get sufficient sleep every night. Take naps when you can. Get away and give yourself a bit of “me time” every day to recharge your own batteries. Keep up with any exercise program you have. Let people take care of you, or your chores, or a cook a meal for you or take you out to eat if they offer. You need to care of yourself so you can take care of your wife. If you feel a bit guilty for doing any of that while she’s lying in a hospital bed in pain remind yourself that you need to stay strong so you can take care of your wounded hero.
I don’t know you or your wife, but I wish you nothing but the best for the future. And read Broomsticks’ message directly above this; lots of smart in there.
