Salad Dressing from the Hood

Years ago I recall several radio ads that promoted salad dressing made by underprivileged youth from what many would call “da’ hood.” It was a program set up to help at-risk youth and all profits from the company went toward helping them out with education, community, etc. I forget the name of the company. Does anybody else here remember this? I haven’t heard any ads for them in a long time so I am assuming the company folded, but I don’t know for sure. Does anybody here have any information about the company’s history or what became of it? It sounded like a good idea, if you ask me.

It was called Food From the 'Hood. It was in South Central LA. It was a thing for a while after the LA riots, but I don’t think it exists anymore. The Creamy Caesar dressing sold well IIRC.

Article from Sept 2008. It was being sold on Amazon at that time.

Their website is down.

Looks like they folded sometime after 2008. Strange that I can’t find anything about them closing.
