Salary.com accuracy

VERY dead-on for me. At work, we’re all ranked against each other every year. I came in at the 75th percentile for my job, and I’m making what salary.com says is the 75th percentile for my job and location.

Well it doesn’t ask if you suck at your job.

My job is a little specific to be listed there, but for the things that sound close, the salaries are in the right range.

Regardless, I’m happy with what I make and my raises. It think it’s inline with the effort and time and stress I put in.

I make less than half of what it says I should. Not a surprise, but depressing all the same.

My salary should be $45,000. It works out currently to $21,000.

I’d like to note that I am sure that I’m in the top 2 of 10 peers, and I’m still way below. My company just radically underpays people who they promote from within. I took a pay cut when I was promoted – it’s why I’m looking for a new job now that I have a year of experience.
