No, we’re dismissing the whole notion of magic wands because there is no such thing as magic.

I don’t know what you’re talking about. Electricity pretty much meets any definition of “magic”. We don’t have a clue why there are charged particles, why there are two kinds, and why like ones repel and opposite attract. We just know that they do, and we have a very good theory about exactly how all of it works. But we don’t know why.
His wand conducts electricity. His ideas of how electricity works are completely wrong, but I think it’s a very consistent theme in his writing that he’s just talking about trying to harness electrical energy in a way not already understood by science. It’s certainly possible that Quantum Electrodynamics is not complete and there is more to it, as there are definitely physical things not totally explainable by science, even if what exists of the theory now has been proven in extraordinary detail.
Certainly, to think that he knows anything about anything that science doesn’t is highly unlikely, and he’s clearly just a suggestible fool, but you’re never going to get that kind of person to stop believing.
