I’ve been searching for a Bolivian restaurant for a while in Chicago, specifically one where I can get salteñas. Maybe I haven’t looked hard enough but does anyone know of any places that might have these wonderful pastries?
I know where to find empanadas but the Bolivian in me wants to keep this authentic =)
(I’ve never been to Chicago, so this is only helpful - hopefully - information)
If there are Peruvian restaruants that serve Arequipa food you might find Salteñas.
In Arequipa they make the difference between Salteñas (Argentinian) and Salteñas bolivianas.
(recognizing that foodstuffs from the Iberian Peninsula have much in common with what the other Celts in Britain eat: tasteless glop in a greasy crust)
Oh, you mean pasties! It’s a bit out of town, but if you desire gastric discomfort you can’t ask for more.
He’s aking for a very specific type of “empanada” (pasty). A don’t think a cornish pasty or any other would do.
Bolivian “salteñas” are actually based on Argentinian empanadas from the Salta province.
