Just to recap something mentioned before, in work-at-will states being simply told “you’re gone, bud” and *escorted *out, with any explanation being provided well after the fact if at all and even then only most cursorily and with no right to hear your side, IS “normal”. No margin for the dignity of the now former employee, and that does rub many of us wrong. But that is itself a product of our litigious society: say nothing that may be quoted and establish for the record that everyone’s exit looks the same regardless of the why of the sacking, since you can be let go for just cause or “just because”, and it’s equally legit, we won’t treat you any better either way. Ain’t worklife grand.
