Sam Stone

You are full of shit, Foaming Cleanser. Sam Stone makes post #26 in response to your “Alberta Taliban” remark and related blathering.

You presumably posted this Pit thread so you could post that screed in your OP. But it’s not a victimless wank: I read a whole thread about Canadian politics.

This is too funny. Clearly, my ‘Pol Pot’ comment was a hyperbolic response to the ‘Alberta Taliban’ nonsense that dripped down Foaming Cleanser’s chin.

And so the guy who had written an entire page of hatred against people in the west is suddenly outraged - OUTRAGED! And to show his outrage at my hateful rhetoric, he abandons my pitting and uses the occasion to unleash an entire post full of vitriolic garbage against an entire province.

The sad part is that I was joking, and he clearly isn’t.

In a way I’m disappointed, though. This is only my second pitting in 14,000 messages. I had hoped for something a little more creative, delivered by someone a little less cerebrally challenged.

And I like how he has to smear all Albertans as white supremacists based on a pathetic old teacher who was caught spewing holcaust revisionism 22 years ago, which got his ass promptly fired. He went off to become a ranting auto mechanic, ignored by all. Yes, he was certainly embraced into the bosom of widespread Albertan white supremacy, wasn’t he?

I suppose all Monstrealers are women-murderers because Marc Lepine shot up a university, right?

Yes, I was very surprised to hear that this went into the Pit. While I generally don’t agree with the Conservative party politics, I don’t dismiss Albertans as the Taliban either. I thought his original post was stupid, and out of place in a serious thread about Canadian politics. However his ranting here was kind of funny. Sam Stone can you come here and rant right back? Please? For the comedic value alone?

Holy shit, Foaming Cleanser. Remind me never to piss you off.

Thanfully, we’re generally on the same side.

If you know where to look, you can find some weather lying around as well.

Bravo, kingpengvin, beautiful post, and one that could be applied to a fair number of liberals down here in the states as well. As to the OP and his ilk…
Let those Eastern bastards freeze in the dark!

Hey Easy there!!! I’m one of those Eastern Bastards.

Just to clear a few things. I’m not a big fan of the Conseratives but I have a real hate on for the courrupt party in power now.

I’m a moderate. I believe in fiscal conservatism and liberal social policy. What I hate is the mentally lazy on both sides of the political spectrum who spew party line without thought. I also hate anyone who paints any group of Canadians with such a vile brush. I may disagree with other’s views (including seperatists) but that does not give me free licence to become a bigotted asshole like a certain moron (hint see the first post above)

Oh to clarify I’m refering to Foaming Loony

That’s pretty much the way I feel down here. I was just teasing about eastern bastards, hell, I live in Baltimore.

I would argue that the conservatives are kind of evil. Let’s not whitewash this - you can claim that not all of the reps are homophobes, and I might agree with you, but the party as a whole supports homophobic policies.

I’d take corruption over moral wrongness any day, thank you.

the province of alberta garnered more revenue from casinos then oil & gas royalties this year.

the more you know!

Hold on… what is your definition of evil here?

I usually reserve evil to describing people who with forethought and planning injure, enslave or kill others. In this case we are talking about a Party which was against a change in the definition of marriage. As nasty as that may seem it is pretty low on the totem pole of evil.

I disagreed with their stance on the Gay marriage issue, but there were almost 50% of people who were aginst Gay marriage. Are 50% of people in Canada evil? As I pointed out there were Liberal party members who voted against the Bill. Does that not make the Liberal party evil?

Also what they publicly stated was not “we don’t want gays to be legally married” just that they didn’t want them to use the term marriage. Harper stated on many occasions he would support a bill which gave the same legal rights under the term same sex Union. It may be splitting hairs but this issue was never one of rational arguments aside that all Canadians deserve to be treated equally under the law.

I think that the actual outcome was correct and right. But I believe that people who disagree (even if they are wrong)have the right to representation as well. It’s called Democracy.

Lastly courruption is moral wrongness. They stole money from the citizens of this country to buy votes. At the same time they were changing the electorial rules to handicap the opposition. How is this not immoral as well?

I think we have to stop labeling our opponents as evil. Instead of just brandishing a label, pick apart their policies, their leadership or their actions and make an informed decision instead of a gut reaction.

That doesn’t mean you won’t still vote against the Conservatives but at least you can say you did it based on a thoughtful choice.

You are fucking unbelievable, Foaming Cleanser. You spew hatred against the West in a totally inappropriate forum and then open a pit thread when called on it? I seriously considered opening a pit thread for you, but your rhetoric was so content-free I just couldn’t be bothered.

Thanks for the lecture; asshole, but going by your quotes below I really think it is you have can’t tell the difference between geography and a political party.

I would go on but I was trying to keep with this board’s policy of not feeding the trolls.

Man, the Canucks are coming out of the woodworks!! I never knew there were so many of them around. I guess they’re kinda like the Ents-- you don’t see them very often, and they’re very slow to anger, but get outa their way once they do get riled up.

Oh, yeah. The OP sucks. What a lame rant.

What? Is this true? I know its just the pit but…

cite?

Probably wrong place for this, but I didn’t see you make this point in the thread on GD. The difference between the Liberals and Conservatives is what the Leadership of each party did. Harper tried a ‘seperate but equal’ approach. We have seen how well that works. Martin did what a leader does, and did what was right no what was necessarily popular.

Brilliant OP. Shades of Bill Hicks. Excellent.

The KKK has gone international? Fucking NAFTA.

I’ll agree with you that the corruption is unforgivable, but I just cannot forgive Harper for his stance on gay marriage. I cannot ever vote Conservative (I miss the PC party) while he is in power. The man took a morally unconscionable stand on the issue and argued vehemently against what was undeniably the right thing to do. No matter what else they do right, I cannot forgive this until he recants directly and asks for forgiveness. It flies in the face of everything that Canada truly stands for, which is freedom, liberty, inclusiveness and openness. Whether it’s evil or not is something I don’t really have an answer for, but it was most definitely wrong.

That said, the corruption is just too much. Again, like I said in the thread that inspired this nasty OP, what choices are there? I think I’m seriously going to vote Green.

Well, not bad, rantishly speaking. For the most part, Sam, the Canadian Eagle is a good enough sort, seems to suffer from a form of anal lycanthropy, certain phases of the moon, he turns into an asshole. Such spasms are mercifully brief, and he is a fan of Warren Zevon, so he can’t be all bad.

But comparisons to Bill Hicks? No. Just no.
