My wife and I watch FF regularly. SB was never my favorite TDS correspondent. I really like that her show exists. I think she is one of the strongest feminine voices discussing politics/society out there. But I’m not sure how “funny” I think she is. Much of the time she impresses us as outraged and - at times - downright mean. Not saying the objects of her ire don’t deserve what she gives, but sometimes it can make for a kinda draining half hour.
Samantha is great and truly funny. She makes me laugh until tears flow. She also hits her targets with fearsome accuracy, which only enhances her humor.
Trevor Noah and John Oliver likewise. I love all of these and laugh as much as with Colbert. I immensely enjoy any and all of the 4 anytime they’re on and I don’t think I can pick a favorite.
I don’t get the attitude that women supposedly can’t be funny.
Sammy B does a great job.
wasn’t her tv show the one that interviewed russian geek types that admitted they were trolling/hacking into the election campaign? (during/nearing the end of 2016 campaign)
have much respect for her.
I like the show just in terms of her perspective being interesting. It’s not terribly funny, but that’s okay. Not everything has to be.
Forgive me if I give no credence to a claim from someone who admits to never watching the show. “From what I gather” is not a valid basis for an opinion (in mine).
Agreed, none of that is hypocrisy. I don’t believe anyone claimed that it was. The hypocrisy I was alluding to was a show that rails against meanness being mean – it may have been an isolated incident, but it was definitely hypocrisy. And a type seen far too often on the left.
That’s just people. There’s more than plenty of “people railing against meanness being mean” on the right, and in the center and pretty much everywhere. I agree that it’s hypocritical, but it’s not skewed in any particular direction.
OTOH the left do get a catchy song about it.
Another strawman. I only said that it is seen far too often on the left, not that it isn’t just as bad on the right.
