I’m going to teach a friend a bit of Samba, but I realized that I don’t really have very much music, so I’m looking for some suggestions. She’s a beginner (well, and I’m no expert), so I want to make sure that the beat is obvious, and not too fast.
Right now I’m listening to “Bailamos”, by Enrique Iglesias, which is really good on both counts. I could deal with a bit faster rhythm, but we’re not ready for Carnival.
So… what’s your favorite samba song?
“Bailamos” is samba? Who knew. When you say teach, do you mean to dance? Depends what kind of samba you’re gonna teach her. There’s slow samba, or enredo, or any number of other styles. Try this link for music suggestions.
The “Dance With Me” soundtrack has some really fun sambas on it. “Maghalena” is one of them, I think. With an obvious beat.
Also, if you can get your hands on the “Strictly Ballroom” soundtrack, you’ll find at least 2 fantastic sambas.
