Makes me very happy! The absence of Mako makes me sad… hopefully they will find a good replacement.

I for one am very excited to hear this. It definitely had stopped without … closure.
Mako …
Mako was amazing, and he will be missed, but he wasn’t all that made the show great. I’m very much looking forward to the return.
Oh of course so. The show will be fine without him. It is just that as much as one can have affection for a voice actor, thinking of his death, a twinge of sadness. Even more the role as Iroh. Not rational, never met him, know little of him, but the twinge is there still.
Finally a date: Friday, December 2
Kinda a cool exactly one year after you started this thread iiandyiiii.
Anyone catch the new season premiere? I thought it was fantastic! Very dark compared to earlier Jack, but still great. Scaramouche was a hilarious villain.
I missed it Saturday night (life intervened). Can anyone confirm if the Adult Swim site is working? The page that says click here for the premiere isn’t working for me.
I was going to start a new thread, but I’ll join in here.
Do you recommend this show to me? I have enjoyed only the following animated shows:
Avatar - Totally awesome.
Legend of Korra - Loved it, too.
Gravity Falls - Pure joy
Outside that, very little.
Thoughts?
Note: I liked Clone Wars and am enjoying Star Wars Rebels, both animated. Both Star Wars, though…so it pulls me and my kids in.
Is Samurai Jack for kids?
Never saw the SW ones but I loved all the shows you loved and loved the original Samurai Jack. And watched with my kids - now adults.
The new one though from what I hear less for kids. Obviously looking forward to seeing for myself but that’s what I hear. You may want to watch the first ep yourself and decide about the kids or wait for us to tell you tomorrow!
Every Samurai Jack episode before the new season premiere is suitable for kids, IMO. The new one is fantastic, but a bit dark for younger kids I think. The older ones are also fantastic and not any darker than other kids shows that incorporate martial arts and fighting, I think.
Samurai Jack is very stylized. Minimalist dialogue - think of a Clint Eastwood spaghetti western which were inspired by minimalist Kurosawa. For all of that geek talk, the plots are straightforward and accessible to kids. The point is that whether SJ is good for kids is all about whether they get into that specific style. My kids loved it.
I caught up and saw it.
Yeah a haunted Jack and the river scene was pretty intense. He’s in a personal Hell of eternal damnation. No replacement voice for Mako as Aku is … what?
A slow paced start setting us up to have some sympathy for at least one daughter of Aku and to have interest in her character arc and a relationship to be with a Jack that needs saving. Love the artwork. The slow start to establish the feel, the characters, and the place is fine … but I really want to binge on this!
Been looking forward to this for a long time.
Caught the first episode and loved it. Looking forward to the rest of the season even more now.
I hope the Scotsman makes an appearance.
I caught like five minutes of the premiere; shown only as a shadow but a giantess beating a little girl? No way that could have aired on Cartoon Network.
The cartoon network airing was during adult swim (11PM Eastern, 10PM Central).
I know, I was referring to Seasons 1-4 airing on Cartoon Network.
Anybody else still watching? Latest episode re-airs tonight. I was wondering when or if the new series would cross into the nope zone for kids. If the last episode didn’t I think this one finally did.
Yes watching and enjoying.
Actually the last episode was to me the weakest. Too much clips filler and humor at the level of penis heads. Okay, the burn of the guy coming in looking for great warriors to kill or somesuch and saying he’s in the wrong place was alright. The waiting horseman reveal was disappointing.
The rest though has been stellar and beautiful to watch. They’ll be back on their game this next week I am sure.
