I want to take a snerfer (a prehistoric snowboard) and go down the Great National Sand Dunes. I tried it before, and it didn’t work very well. Any suggestions on what to wax the board with so it will slide on sand?
If I recall correctly, a snerfer board is made of wood, is very narrow, and about an inch thick. Another dis-advantage is that I think the snerfer has a concave bottom like this: V , rather than a reverse concave. Back in the late 70’s I remember reading that the innovators of sand surfing used a teflon coating. Plus, the boards were custom designed at the start, and more closely resembled a very light weight snowboard. I highly recommend full padding. A fall at a good speed will be a lot like body surfing on sand paper.
