Saw it. She saluted a stop sign. Unless that wasn’t her car, which is possible but I’m thinking unlikely, YMMV.
Its just that focusing on the legality of the thing misses the point, she didn’t deserve what happened to her whether she ran that stop sign or not, or whether she had ever in her life signaled a lane change.
And the cherry atop the turd sundae is Texas courts tend to favor authority. Lean in that direction, certainly safe to say.
When a fucking “good ol boy,” tells you you can “step on out now” as if that is doing you a favor. if the asshole wants you out you say it as a demand not as if you are going to have a mint julep on the balcony
IMPORTANT UPDATE Sandra’s family is filing a wrongful death suit against the dickwad and the county sheriff’s office.
I for one hope this poor woman gets some justice and the law is reviewed to keep fucking racial predators like Encina out of law enforcement and preferably behind bars
Only if the numbers line up. They’d have to add up to a conviction. You can’t just put them anywhere, they have only one place they can go.
You meant seppuku
Heck, you can buy a program to do it for you. It can do twenty in the time it takes you to do one. Baseball is much more difficult.
I wish her family the best of luck, because she shouldn’t have been provoked into being arrested. But considering that I’ve seen more solid cases of police abuse go down with less of a fight, I don’t see it being successful.
(Raises drink) Here’s to them, and here’s to hoping that Houston doesn’t riot if they fail.
Racism was not listed on the record either but that didn’t stop the reporter from claiming that racism was the reason for his dismissal. As you say, “If a reason is not on the record, then the Slate reporter will be unable to include it in his story”, and yet, that is exactly what the reporter did.
…the Houston Chronicle and an area TV reporter indicate that Smith was fired by the Hempstead City Council after several allegations of police misconduct, not all of which involved racial issues…
What are these other allegations, not all of which involved racial issues, that the reporter chose not to mention?
What, pray tell, is your point? Are you saying that using turn signals should be optional? Or that we should have laws requiring you to use your turn signal, but that the police shouldn’t be allowed to enforce them?
According to your link, the family is still asserting that Bland was murdered in her cell, a claim which even the most rabid anti-police posters in this thread abandoned several dozen pages ago. Do you think they have a chance of proving that assertion in a court of law? Why haven’t they released the evidence from their independent autopsy that would prove it?
Lane changes that do not affect anything or anyone? What happened to “no harm no foul”? They won’t stop you for speeding unless you’re 10mph over. Noone signals around here except me. I’m in a big confusing bad driver city. I don’t know even now if all lane changes must legally be signalled. Is this just Texas?
He was not doing his job. Should’ve been out looking for crimes, and not wasting thousands or millions of Texas taxpayer , which the rest of the country will end up picking up. It's always that way with Red states. They suck up the , put up horrible skeevy politicians, talk about secession all the time, and never actually do it.
