Sarah Palin's Alaska [spoilers]

She’s not in politics. She was in politics.

Also…are you on crack? It was educational? About what, our ability to laugh at the stupid? The ability of family values to reign supreme in the face of an unwed teenage mother?

Just to keep the funny alive, tell us why so many people watched this show?

Latest reports are that the producers are so impressed that they’ve already planned a follow-up series “Obama’s Kenya” for 2013.just kidding

Aaaand here’s the Fox News panel’s review. Oops.

I watched it, and then hopped on here last night to discuss, but no one had started a thread, and it was my bedtime.

Anyway. I only yelled at her a few times while watching it. I was doing laundry at the same time, though, to keep myself sane. I liked the part where she said she “wasn’t a quitter”. Non-political, my arse. I can’t wait to read Joe McGinness’ book.

I wonder what Alaskans thought of the show.

It’s on now. I like seeing the Alaskan wilderness. The river and bears were pretty.

Obviously, some of this is planned for the camera. The kids didn’t look like they had seen bears before or fished much.

I’m willing to ignore politics. Focus on the gorgeous glaziers and animals. When else will we get to see footage like this? I certainly don’t have the money to visit those places myself.

I don’t have cable, nor a compelling need to watch this.

However, I did enjoy the clip (I think on HuffPost) of Palin discussing the building of their 14-foot fence and how they needed it to protect their privacy and then in the very next breath suggesting that Todd (?) drill a peephole in the fence so she can spy on her neighbor. That’s rich.

Which was only ever so she could be on tv anyway, I’m pretty sure.

I haven’t seen it, but she never struck me as the truly outdoorsy type. For most people doing this sort of ‘nature’ show, I’d assume that the hairspray is for the cameras. In this case, I assume that everything else is for the cameras, and the hairspray is who she is.

Does your cable package not include NatGeo?

I’m keeping my fingers crossed!

Sadly, between dumb-ass truckers and dumb-ass ex-politicians, I am losing all desire to go to Alaska. :frowning:

All that was missing was someone saying “awkward!” in that sing-song voice.

I saw some clips of the landscape and if I could watch the show for the landscape and wildlife and fast forward through Palin and have it not affect her ratings, I might consider watching it but surely there are some shows about the Alaska wilderness that don’t include her?

How many people could stomach 8 weeks of watching the daily life of the Mitt Romney family? …or 8 weeks of the David Kucinich family?

I’d watch Mrs Kucinich for eight weeks.

Mine certainly didn’t (I dropped it last month). They were slowly eroding away at the good channels that nobody watches. I actually quite like Fox Business, CNBC, and NatGeo and G4 disappeared as well.

Anyways, I wasn’t able to hypothetically find it :(. I’ll try harder tonight.

With my usual punctuality, here are some of the “highlights” from the first episode, if anyone’s still interested.

Sarah Palin is a very real person, and I cannot think of any other politician who would so fearlessly put themselves out there and say “This is who I am, this is my family, this is where I live.” I find it incredibly refreshing.

“Now, watch me and my unwed teen mom daughter club a fish to death with a billy club!”

Oh shit, Facebook drama with the Palin girls.

Brief summery:

Guy: This show sucks.
Willow: Your so gay. blah blah blah, such a faggot blah blah you’re all just jealous of my family’s success.

Classy bunch, huh?

Yeah, I think the people I hate more than celebrities are the children and family of them.

Like, I hate Palin so very, very much. I can’t stand her, but I have to admit that she’s manuvered her way staying in the limelight pretty impressively.

Her children are just along for the ride and it seems like they’re starting to think that it’s something that they’ve done something to deserve it.

What is that Bill Cosby line? We don’t have money. I have money. You’re broke.
