Ok, I just got informed that I get to go work in Sarasota, FL May 31st through June 2nd. That’s Wednesday through Friday of that week. This means that I’ll be through work mid afternoon on Friday and will need to be entertained as I ain’t gonna drive all the way back to Jawja that night. So, I’m open to meeting anybody around the Sarasota or Tampa area. Heck, I can even drive up to Tampa to spend the night if a get together around Tampa is good.
I just know there are dopers in the area who are just dying to meet me! [sub]Shibb[/sub] Can we get us up a dopefest? Huh? huh? Can we?
Oh Hell yeah, I’m in!! I need to make a trip out to Sarasota anyway to pick up my wetsuit at the aquarium. Let me know if you want to see some dolphins while you’re down. I wonder if Ladyfoxfyre will already be on vacation by then? Anyway, I’m up for you some Dopery!!!
Seriously, I’m up for either Sarasota or Tampa. I could even stay over on Saturday if a Saturday day thing would be good. A little weekend playtime would do me good. Who knows maybe if we do a Saturday thing we can persuade some not too far away Flahrdians to come play, especially in Tampa.[sub]Puggy[/sub]

I don’t know where I’ll be staying yet, as I just got the “You are scheduled for Sarasota May 31-June2” email a couple of hours ago. It’ll be a couple of weeks before travel arrangements are finalized. Well, cept I know I’m driving because that just makes sense from south Jawja.
I’m pretty sure that both baseball fans AND tourists from Ontario will be scarce that time of year. Isn’t there a requirment that they return north at first thaw?
I’ll check my calendar when I get home to make sure I don’t have any scheduling conflicts.

Anyways, in the tradition of FairyChatMom who poked her head into our thread to give a swampy-testimonial, I’ll poke my head in here officially and say that anyone could do a lot worse than a swampfest in Tampa (Oooh! Swampfest II - Electric Boogaloo). Here’s the Seattle thread so people can get an idea of the potential for good times.

Well there isn’t a requirement that I post wearing my glasses, and I didn’t catch that May/June part, just the 31st - 2nd part. Oh, well. That’s actually a good time for baseball, you can watch the rookie league kids for a couple of bucks.
Saturday day and night is definitely the best. Actually, it’s almost a must for me. I’m driving from Columbus, GA so Friday evening is out of the question. I think the earliest I could get to Tampa is 1am Saturday. So late morning Saturday through Sunday afternoon are open for me.
I’m all open for it being a Saturday thing. Especially if’n it attracts even more Dopers! Again, I’m open for Sarasota, Tampa, places in between, whatever. In a couple of weeks I’ll know more of my travel plans. So, what to do, where to meet? Let’s do this y’all!
Sarasota is a bit far and I would have to drive over a long bridge. Tampa is less far but also involves a long bridge. I won’t attempt any long bridges unless I have a new car by then. So I can’t make any promises.
Wile E the trick to long bridges is to hold your feet up so they don’t get wet. Of course that means it’s hard to like reach the accelerator and brakes but everything has its drawbacks. I hope you can make it. See, if I could get you, Puggy and Shibb and some other Flahrda MMPers there we could take pictures and make everybody soooooo jealous. Wouldn’t that be fun!
