Savannah, GA - Restaurant Recommendations

Some friends and I are spending New Year’s Eve weekend in Savannah. I’d love to hear some names of good restaurants to try out. Can be anything for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Cheap or expensive. As long as the food is good. Thanks!

Mrs. Wilkes Dining Room - typical southern fare. Unless you have a party of 10 you will be seated with strangers. Single price, all-you-can-eat, food is served in large portions, on the table, family-style. Serves only lunch (11A-2P).

Moved to Cafe Society.

Alligator Soul, The Crystal Beer Parlor, The Soho Cafe, The Olde Pink House, Belford’s.

During a day’s visit to Savannah this past summer, there was only time for one meal. Luckily, it was a good one. Pie Society is a British-style bakery and savory pie shop. It’s an easy walk from the river, right in the thick of things. The place is only one storefront and there’s a few tables wedged in the front. You can check some of the regular menu items on their webpage but I got a beef bourguignon chalkboard special pie. Clearly made with care, it was great!

We discovered The Crab Shack by accident, and liked it a lot. The low land boil was good.

We liked the outdoor seating, so I don’t know how it would be over New Years. When we went, they had a bunch of cats that wandered between the outdoor tables, nicely begging for leftovers. If you’re allergic, this may not be the place for you.

Another vote for Belford’s. We happened upon it one evening and were pleasantly surprised that it was as good as it looked to be. That is, while it is on a busy, tourist oriented street, it was far and away above tourist fare.
