Saving humanity from homosexuals is as important as saving the rainforest

An interesting moral calculus.

“Dear God: Protect us from the people who believe in you.”

I’m going to keep on banging my head against the desk until the stupid goes away. Good plan, yes/no?

Is anyone surprised at this? Seriously? The only thing that surprises me is that the RCC ranks the environment almost as high as saving us all from Teh Ghey.

There’s gotta be a good joke in there somewhere but I’m too tired to think of it.

Surprised? Of course not. Just… sad. Frustrated. Fucking bored with it.

I respectfully submit to the RCC that the world is full of real problems that they could maybe help with, if they’d get their heads out of their pants.

Make sure you work in that the Pope wears a dress and wears a “funny” hat. Pssst: It’s shaped like a PENIS!

This is industrial strength stupid. Wear a helmet.

The day I get my moral compass from the leader of an organisation that not only was complicit in hiding and protecting paedophiles in its priesthood, but had the gall to issue a declaration telling the children molested that they hadn’t in fact committed a sin in the process of being raped, is (I hope) the day they check me into the psych ward.

It is a rather queer hat, now that you mention it.

Save us from “transsexual” behaviour? Men banned from screenings of Mama Mia? Eddie Izzard to wear trousers? What exactly does he have in mind here?

I just wish they hadn’t let a spokeswoman for the holy father* on the Today Program otherwise I might have never heard about this. Like I give a toss what the sodding pope says.

*who the frak talks like that? She used the phrase about four times

So an elderly dress-wearing bachelor and former Nazi who currently heads an insanely wealthy cult whch fronts for child molestors thinks we should strike a blow against homosexuality because it’s morally wrong? Yeah, I’ll get right on that, Benny.

Moving thread from IMHO to MPSIMS.

So, maybe the evils of the world to be dealt with are prioritized something like:

  1. Homosexuality

  2. Contraception

  3. Latin Americans turning Evangelical

  4. Genocide

  5. Environmental damage

I don’t know. I’m glad I left the Church, and also glad that your typical American Catholic doesn’t pay that much attention to the Pope anymore.

Religion: the scourage of humanity.

Isn’t there something in Matthew about “whenever two or more are gathered in my name”? Not much need for hierarchy there. Most of the religious structures that are either holding progress back, or acting as excuses for terrible crimes, seem to have nothing to do with the original basis for their faith.

Right now, I’m glad my tiny girlfriend has some kind of spiritual faith, because it seems to be helping her deal with a loss. But I’m also glad she doesn’t let some church “authority” tell her what to do.

But then it doesn’t feel as good when you stop.

There’s a throwaway line in Stephen King’s book “The Running Man” when he mentions that in the dystopic future of the book, the Pope’s pronouncements are used as “lighter side of the news” comedy segments on TV. I believe we’re on our way towards that already.

Ah, the good ol’ RCC, nothing beats comedy.

So, what’s next? Spanish Inquisition: Time to Burn Some Queers?

Just to make this thread a bit more MPSIMS’y, I love the above. Something like what would happen if William Burroughs and James Joyce bumped into each other in an office spilling their pages everywhere, and picked them up at random.

(And yeah, it’s awful how the rampant spread of homosexuality has meant that the population of the world has fallen so drastically in the past few decades …)
