Truly amazing…at 6 weeks, 4 days gestation. You can’t tell what it is because it’s so tiny, but we definitely saw the heartbeat fluttering away. AMAZING! And we are relieved…we had the early ultrasound because I have had 2 miscarriages where the baby never formed, so seeing the heartbeat is a great thing. Isn’t technology incredible?
Congrats!!! It really is amazing to see!!
Congratulations! It is amazing to see that little heart beating away. When they let you listen to it, make sure you have a recorder with you. You can then play it for your kid when their older and watch their eyes get bigger, hearing that fast “whoosh, whoosh” sound.
I am sorry for your earlier losses. My wife and I have been through that too. I wish you the best of luck and hope that you have a smooth, uneventful pregnancy with an easy delivery and, most importantly, a healthy baby at the end.
Congrats Sarahfeena! My first scan is in about 3 weeks and I am hoping it will inspire a little bit of excitement in MrD, who thus far has been a bit nonplussed about the whole thing!
Don’t worry, with my first one, my husband was the same way! I think they get a little shell-shocked (my husband called it “deer-in-the-headlights!” The whole pregnancy kind of freaked him out. But he’s been totally different since she was born! So don’t worry too much about it!
Congratulations! Even though the baby just looks like a little bean, it’s amazing to see the heart. I’ve also been told that once you have seen the heart beating, the chances of miscarriage go down quite a lot. Best wishes for a healthy pregnancy and baby.
Oh, that is so exciting! Congratulations!
Also, that first time is not the same for the father. YOU have the baby inside you, you love it from the moment you know it’s there, for you it’s already real. For him, well he may be really happy about it, but the whole thing is more abstract. My hubby was the same way. But it was very different for the next two. NOW he truly knew and understood what he was looking forward to and he was as excited as I was!
I’m glad my mom told me about that before I ever got pregnant. Otherwise, I might’ve been pretty disappointed about his reaction when I got pregnant that first time. He was happy–it WAS a planned pregnancy–but it wasn’t till he first heard our daughter cry that he felt the same overwhelming love and joy that I’d felt for nine months. He told me later how unprepared he’d been for that rush of emotion–but as I said, the next two pregnancies were a joy to us both from the first.
After years of being told Mom was sterile, and even though the frog had said “yes”, my parents didn’t really believe they were pregnant until I kicked.
I kind of consider the Atlas Circus as my “official welcome-to-this-world place”, since it was during their closing act.
So much nicer, being able to wave to the camera
Congratulations! Just wait until the next one - when you get to see the tiny arms and legs waving around. Mine is now 16 weeks old (on the outside) and I can still see those little fingers on the screen, clear as day in my mind.
Its all great, when little baby gets older and you can see more and more you just won’t beleive it. Congratulations and I hope all goes well
