Sawyer Sweeten, ‘Everybody Loves Raymond’ star, dead at 19

One of the twin boys from the show. Suicide.

If you recall the show, the twins were featured and so was their real sister.

Wow, I felt really bad when I saw it was suicide this morning, but shooting yourself on someone else’s porch is the ultimate dick move.

I don’t imagine people committing suicide are thinking rationally about such things.

I know you’re right, having been suicidal in the past. I don’t think I expressed that well. Of course I still feel awful for him and his survivors. :frowning:

The former cast members react.

That is a shame.

I was never a fan of the kids on that show. I always thought they were the worst part of a decent sitcom, especially the twin boys. They were all terrible actors (I wasn’t expecting anything award-winning, but there wasn’t a decent actor in that entire Sweetin family. Bad acting kids can make a decent show unwatchable when they are on screen.

I always thought they were a bad visual match - 3 blond children from two dark-haired Italian parents… but that wasn’t the kid’s fault.

Anyway, it is sad to me that a kid that would probably never have to worry about money again, and be able to live off of the money that program will make in re-runs for the rest of his days, would take his life. Unless he was dying of some unknown disease and he didn’t want to suffer through the pain of the end game, he could have done anything he wanted to do and had the rest of his life to do it.

I wonder what his brother may know? Anyone finding out possible reasons, but not sharing yet because it’s too soon?

Feel bad for his family. Wouldn’t wish this on anyone.

The show wasn’t about the kids, though. The part that unnerved me was how quiet and unobtrusive they all were, never interrupting or even moving around very much unless it was called for in the story!

Very sad situation, ultra sad for the family since he did it on the porch. So, so sad.

When I think of those twins, I immediately picture the brief scene in which they’re jumping on their parents’ bed.

Great memory, then. Such a sad situation, now.

It’s sad of course but I honestly forgot there were kids on that show.

Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu

You always feel for the family in stuff like this, but I really wonder what his twin’s going through. Damn it, suicide ain’t painless no matter what the MASH theme claimed.

What does the porch have to do with it? If he was thinking rationally at all maybe he thought doing it out there was more considerate than blowing his brains out all over the living room furniture. Or maybe he didn’t want to be alone when he left this world.

Money doesn’t stop thoughts of suicide. Neither does success, or even love. Suicidal ideation is a thing all of its own. Most people never experience it. Some do and resist. Sometimes they can’t. It’s sad that he was so young. He probably loved his family as much as they loved him. It’s possible they aren’t shocked and surprised.

I’ve never met anyone that has never thought about suicide, or even if they have never felt suicidal they at least had thought about how it feels, which is more painless etc.

If they ever make a reunion show, they could substitute in the remaining Camden twin. (Also would work for a 7th Heaven reunion show.)

How terrible. It’s tragic that he didn’t get the help he needed.

I don’t know if depression is genetic but maybe his brother should consider seeing if he needs treatment.

FYI this is a 5-year-old zombie, likely revived by a spammer.

Thank you. I wondered why a news article said Doris Roberts(who died 4 years ago) had posted thoughts on the boy’s death. I was very confused.

Nope, it was revived by me, to note the death of another TV child actor twin.
