As I recall, he said it while straddling the M-16/M203 combo (just before or after firing a grenade), making it a double entendre, and implying that there was something else Tony might have been compensating for, all along…
OK, OK. Sorry if I somehow upset anyone over this. I was only trying to recommend this DVD. Apparently people open threads they don’t understand for many, many reasons.
And GuandLad, did I say I was reviewing the movie? No, I was only recommending the DVD for people who have already seen it. The line is the most quoted line of the movie - in fact the use if for the ten second commercial for the DVD.
But thanks for popping in to berate me, I appreciate it.
I hope I didn’t start anything nasty. I wasn’t berating you, Dooku, just making fun of my own cultural ignorance, my association of that line with a silly computer game rather than the movie it’s apparently from.
It’s what I get for not having seen Gone With the Wind.
Daniel
This movie was first released in 1983 and filmed in the year or two before that, just about the time that South Beach had hit its lowest point. Thousands of Mariel refugees were staying in the dilapidated hotels there, many of the retirees living there were on their last legs, and the place had a really run down feeling. You can see much of this in the movie, which makes for a nice “slice of time” contrast when compared to South Beach today.
Well, the problem was you assumed to much.
And you should never assume, etc etc etc…
Oh, that was the “problem” huh? I see. In the future I’ll Email all my OPs to you first for evaluation.
Well I understood the OP right off the bat, and even recognized the quotes! Scarface is the most quotable movie ever:
Look at joo now! Joo stoopid fock!
Manolo! Choot that piece of chit!
Fly, pelican, fly!
Okay, less get organice here
First you get the money, then you get the power. When you got the power, then you get the pussy
and, of course,
** Say hello to my lettle fren! [KABOOOOM!!]**
Hey, dstop taking it so personally! I wasn’t the only one confused by your OP, especially since your VERY FIRST LINE made the assumption everyone would know what you were talking about. Clearly they didn’t. That, therfore, is a problem. OPs that are utterly confusing, but assume we can see through this, are definitely problems.
However, I don’t give a monkey’s about your stupid movie so I’ll leave this thread alone now.
Sheesh, everybody needs to lighten up in here. It’s not as if Dooku burning your dog or something.
Hmmm, well, if you watched it on TV, I think they tone down that scene quite a bit. I haven’t watched it in awhile, but I do remember distinct differences between that scene in the uncut version of the movie and the broadcast version. I seem to recall some chainsaw meeting skin and blood flying. Brian DePalma loves that kind of stuff–Ever seen the drill scene in “Body Double”?
What an icky movie that was, and not just for the bloodletting. Have you ever seen a dog that break a car window with his nose? Preposterous.
Actually, I believe that it was the normal Troll Axethrower, but I could be wrong. As you can imagine, I haven’t played in the game in a while.
People open threads they don’t understand for a myriad of reasons. The number one reason, I would guess, would be to fight their ignorance on as many fronts as possible. The second would be to combat their boredom. Thirdly, they would open them because they have a pretty good idea what it’s about, but want to be sure, and are thus looking for some clarity.
None of which you provided them. So instead of simply putting in a “if you liked Scarface even a little, get the DVD” you chose to be cryptic by putting in “If you liked the movie even a little, get the DVD.” I guess all I’m asking is that you try to be a little clearer in the future. People may or may not have “randomly opened” your thread, but they’re still confused.
Good goddamn, enough about Dooku’s first sentence to his thread! No need to get worked up over it!
And yeah, it was a troll, not an orc. Pretty sad when you’re so ignorant of pop culture, your self-deprecating geek comments contain geek errors.
Daniel
Yes, yes yes. I’m sorry. Truly, deeply sorry. I will go sit in the corner now.
Thank you for the support, DanielWithrow, Manduck and anyone else I may have missed.
Well, that was odd. I, for one, knew exactly what you were talking about, as I was unwrapping the DVD case as I read it. Anybody else notice how cool Disc 2 looks with the TM monogram thingy on it?
So long, Mel. Hab a goo trip.
Say goo’night to the ba’ guy!
