the title says pretty much everything, I want to make a video that can work as a screen saver but I have no idea where to start nor if this is even possible.

It is possible. I did this for a Mac we were using in a public installation. I’m at the wrong computer, but can check in the morning. As I recall the videos had to be in AVI format, but not positive about it.
It was definitely a free download program.
Vista Ultimate has this as a feature, it’s called DreamScene.
