The truly sad part of this is the amount of cognitive distortion a person has to be enveloped in to characterize open mockery and scorn on himself as “wails” of people who have, er, been defeated? By a dead guy?

Most men do not feel their freedom of speech is increasingly being encroached upon by overly sensitive liberals. That’s a false narrative. Most men understand that politeness has it’s place in civilized society and that random demeaning quips have unintended consequences.
And do all Charter Members make fun of newbies joining a discussion forum after following a viral news item originating from a widely available news item like the SCOTUS nomination hearings, and curious how the thread is still going almost two weeks later? Is this merely an echo chamber for Charter Members to criticise outsiders from? Do Moderators think it’s in the best interest of the SD forum for newbie shaming to be the norm?
This thread originated from a news event that now ironically actually demonstrates why casual use of demeaning language has consequences, as the aforementioned SCOTUS nominee now stands accused of unacceptable behavior as a teenager, obviously shaped by the attitudes of his peers and likely also the adults around him at the time, giving him license to behave inappropriately with a girlfriend at the time, demonstrating the actual behavior that results from random demeaning speech when it goes unchecked. That’s not infringing on men’s freedom of speech, that’s protecting the safety and dignity of children and everyone. Anyone of that generation remembers full well what used to pass as normal conversation and the ugly behavior that went along with the attitudes of that period. That behavior was wrong then, is universally recognized as being enabled by demeaning speech that modern society deems to be unnecessary, selfish and generally inappropriate on many levels as the thread has enumerated.
Give it up or admit the outrage is fake. Most people are over the whole criticism of political correctness. It’s not a valid argument in the modern era.

I was going to be polite but this is the Pit: if you plan on staying here, you may want to a) learn to count and b) grow a thicker skin.
