Hardly a new issue, in her book “A Tree Grows in Brooklyn” and again in “Tomorrow Will Be Better,” the author Betty Smith talks about the issue of the poor and children.
To quote: “It’s like saying only rich people should be allowed to have kids.”
Strange how there are such low birth rates these days in the European Union (1.47 per woman on average, and replacement level is 2.1), whose countries tend to be more generous toward the poor than they are here.
Niger, in contrast, has a per capita GDP of $739, but that extreme level of poverty and lack of welfare programs haven’t deterred the women there from popping out an average of 7 children per woman.
Give poor kids books. Poor=stupid right? Poor stupid kids will chew the covers off of books and have something relating to nutrition that will keep them alive without having the energy to procreate.
The one thing these people are forgetting is: if poor people stop having kids, who’s going to be working in their factories and picking their fruit in the future? Who’s going to be buying their plastic disposable crap and McDonalds ‘food’? They think profits just grow on trees?
No, strong evidence that Bauer may be correct. Look at his family history. His grandmother was, by all accounts, an intelligent woman. Then his parents fed young Andre some welfare food. And he then grew up to be an idiot.
You forgot “And then to top it off ivn1188 strolls in like he owns the place and waves his tinny little PIT COP badge all over, as though anyone does anything but laugh at him when he does it.”.
