I have this weird fascination with real places that would be the scariest, most dangerous places to suddenly wake up in - in the middle of the night - and be alone.
Not the obvious places like “anywhere in Iraq” or “at my mother-in-law’s house”…
I am thinking the Cabrini-Green housing project in Chicago, or in the ghettos of Rio in Brazil, or parts of South Central LA…places with high crime/murder rates and bleak surroundings.
Nominees?
The moon
Reminds me of the Larson cartoon - “Frank, where were you? We waited and waited…”

Well, that’s not work safe (language).
That is probably the most disturbing video I’ve seen in a while.

Antarctica?
A mile above the Earth, in free fall?
At one of Fred Phelps’ sermons?

Sorry.

Sometimes you’ve got to fix things by breaking them.
Alone, in the bottom of a mine. And something just cut all the lights.
Stuck in a water-tight compartment in a sunken ship or sub.
The middle of the Hoosac Tunnel without a light, and a train is passing through.
I haven’t walked through it yet, but I know people who have.

Yeah, I was going to say in a tiger cage, next to a waking tiger.
Somewhere in the arctic circle, during a whiteout blizzard.

I’d probably skip Lagos, Mogadishu or Tijuana.
According to Chris Rock
Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. - Anytown, USA
On the White House lawn during a security lockdown.
In Osama bin Laden’s cave.
In the middle of a Middle East anti-American demonstration.
In some of the South African townships.
On the bottom of the Marianas Trench, in any year and for any amount of time.
Between Donald Trump and a TV camera.
Between Elizabeth Taylor and a buffet table.
Sealed in a coffin, underground.
Sealed in a coffin, on a conveyor belt.
Condemned cell, about 4 in the morning with a couple of hours to go.
In a cheap hotel room across from a strip club in Tijuana, discovering your wallet and passport are missing. It is only my imagination of course. This has never happened. I repeat… Erm.
