I thought the sand-snake (the first snake Rikki Tikki kills) was much worse. Appears from nowhere with a ghastly “Be careful…I am death.”
Scared me as a kid.

You can add me to a lot of these, especially the Death Coach in Darby O’Gill.
For me the scariest scene of E.T. was when they found him at the base of the waterfall, all pink & shriveled. No, he was not cute, he was appalling. Yuck.
Oh, Maleficent is SUCH an awesome villain…
My scary scene was the tense moment in Bambi where these birds (pheasants, quails?) were hiding from the Evil Hunter in the grass. They couldn’t see him and one bird got so frightened she couldn’t stand it and burst from her hiding place…only to be shot dead by the Evil Hunter.
I also remember being petrified of the huge forest fire…scared that all the animals and birds wouldn’t make before the fire consumed them. Thinking how they lost their homes and probably a few friends and family members too.
The Skeksis were memorable and all, but it was the Garthim that creeped me the hell out - giant scuttling pincer-clawed bugs…shiver
The like the Shadow battlecrab from Babylon 5
Gawd…I had forgotten about them. Ugh. <will now sleep with nightlight>
