Could someone please recommend SCARY games for the PS3? Games with a very dark, tense atmosphere, a lot of suspenseful/startling moments, and gameplay built around exploration rather than action?
I’ve played Resident Evil 5 and hate it, so that’s already been disqualified.
Is Fatal Frame too old?
Silent Hill 2 & 3 are being re-released for PS3 in January.

I found Bioshock to be intolerably scary, but I’m a big wuss when it comes to shooter games.

Well with the exception of Heavy Rain, none of the others are on PS3.
If you mean PS2 or 3, then try all the Silent Hills (except 4, haven’t played that). I’m not sure if F.E.A.R. is on PS3, probably a good choice if it is.
The Dead Space games are supposed to be scary. Haven’t played them though.
Scariest game I’ve played lately is Amnesia: Dark Descent. But it’s PC only.
I’ve played the first one, it’s good and creepy.
