The one scene I’ve seen recently that pops into mind is the “Sicilian Ancestry” scene in True Romance. I’ve never seen the movie and only recently Youtubed for the scene in order to see what everyone was talking about. It was good to watch once, but I wouldn’t want to see it again cause it is so offensive that it makes me almost sympathetic for murderous gangster thugs. I know that this offensiveness was quite calculated in the plot, but still.
Ehh, you may want to reconsider some day. The Steve Carrell character eventually catches on to (is told) how awfully weird he is, and when it’s suggested that he can transcend his mis-fittedness by embracing his awfulness, he rallies magnificently. It’s mostly a pretty feel-good ending.
The beginning of the move “Buried” with Ryan Reynolds where is he is buried alive in a coffin. I still do not know how that movie ends because I walked out and never wanted to have anything to do with it.
You went to see a movie called “Buried” and were upset that the movie immediately delivered what the title promised?
I’m surprised that you are the only one to mention this. It’s made so much worse by having an asshole who punishes the awkward character even though the character can’t help it.
And at least I made it through that one. Not so the sequels.

Meet the Parents would have been a much better movie if the filmmakers had had the balls to make the subtextual antisemitism text.
When I say “better” I mean as extremely dark comedy, obviously.
Mine’s a slight variation on this. I hate any scene in which a character is heading for disaster and doesn’t know it. Let’s say that they lied at the begining of the movie. Then, they have to keep on lying, just to keep things coherent. They think that they have everything under control but we, the viewers, know that some people have gotten suspicious and that they are going to find out the truth soon. We see that character getting deeper and deeper into trouble without realizing it. I just can’t stand this type of scenes. They happen a lot in rom-coms.
When the big confrontation comes, I have to leave the room.
Same here :o.
