I have two questions.
Nine months after I bought my computer (Windows ME), I finally decided to get a book on it: Osborne’s * The Complete Reference Windows ME * . One thing I found out is that ME has a maintainenace program. It said that if the automatic program was not installed, I can download it from the ME CD, which I did. Now I have nine different tasks that the computer has scheduled automatically. One of them is called “PC Health Scheduler for Data Collection.”
What the heck is that. It is scheduled to run every ten minutes! I know I can change the schedule, but the default schedule is on quite a frequent basis.
The computer has to be on for the scheduled tasks to run. I’ve always shut it off at the Surge Protector before. Now, I guess, I’ll just let it sleep (shut it down from the Start button only), so the tasks can run as scheduled. Are there any disadvantages to not shutting it off, but just letting it sleep, other than a slightly higher electric bill?
