Task Scheduler Service : Some tasks did not execute at their scheduled times

Every time prior to signing into Windows (XP) I get a popup telling me that “some tasks did not execute at their scheduled times…”,
the same message gets put in the System Event Log:

**
Application popup: Task Scheduler Service :
Some tasks did not execute at their scheduled times because the Task Scheduler Service was not running.
You can view the list of missed tasks, and attempt to run them again, from within the Scheduled Tasks folder.
**

But I have NO secluded tasks and startup type of this service is set to Automatic…

Does anyone know how to do away with this (seemingly erroneous) message?

You sure you don’t have Automatic Updates set to run? I think that one can be turned off/on via Control Panel. Barring that, you can set the service to Manual or Disabled.

Automatic updates were set to run, so I stopped and disabled that service. I then stopped/started Task Scheduler and got the message again when it started.

The only time I’ve used Task Scheduler (with this computer) was to shut down after I did a full virus scan.
