okay, i’ve added Ad-Aware, Disk Cleanup, and Disk Defragmenter to my scheduled tasks. they open like they should, but how do i make them actually run once a week? isn’t there some kind of command line crap you have to do? please explain in simple english.
You’d probably be better off making a macro to start and run these programs, then put the macro in the task scheduler instead.
Can I just offer my not-asked-for advice and suggest perhaps you think of running them manually? Having added tasks running in the background actually slows your computer. (over simplified)
AdAware supports command line arguments. SpyBot, as far as I can see, does not.
You can fire off an AdAware scan by using a command line like:
C:\Program Files\LavaSoft\Ad-Aware 6\Ad-aware.exe +A +S +1
This will perform a silent deep scan and clean.
For more information look at the AdAware help and search the index for “Command line parameters”.
So, it looks like you can schedule AdAware, but will have to keep running SpyBot manually. Could be worse - AdAware will keep your machine mostly free of spyware and the occasional SpyBot run will clear up anything else.
