Schindler's List on DVD?

Is anyone aware of plans to officially release Schindler’s List on DVD? Amazon.com and my local video rental and retail stores all claim that it has not been released at all, though Google reveals a few sites that have it, though in a format with any special features.

It’s been nearly 10 years since the movie was seen in theatres – surely there must be plans to release a nice edition with lots of commentary, deleted scenes (like the infamous “poker” scene), behind-the-scenes footage, interviews, etc.?

I have seen web sites with Indiana Jones and the first Star Wars trilogy on DVD.

It isn’t even a pre-order situation. Pirate sites should be a little more subtle.

Here’s a site which lists which of the AFI’s top 100 films that are on DVD. Schindler’s List is in regular text, which I think means it hasn’t been announced, or even believed to be in development.

Pity.

It’s not on DVD, at least not yet. The DVD Journal keeps a list of MIA DVDs which includes Schindler’s List, among other Spielberg movies.

Man, what a bummer. Thanks for the info, though. I wonder if there’s a way to petition Universal Studios for the release…

What infamous poker scene?

It was a scene in which Goeth and Schindler play cards to determine who gets to keep Goeth’s housekeeper. (Actually, I think it was blackjack, not poker…my mistake.) I’ve read articles in which either Spielberg or Liam Neeson said he was very sorry it was cut from the film because it revealed a lot about Schindler’s character and his motivations.
