School Lunches

In elementary school I don’t even remember what they had, as I’d bring lunch from home. Usually one of those cardboard cup-O-noodle type soups and a thermos full of milk.

In junior high I’d bring hot dogs and heat them up in the cafeteria microwave.

In high school I went to the cafeteria on the first day, found it was so crowded there were no empty tables, saw that the hot dogs were made out of turkey, and quickly decided to skip lunch and go to the library instead.

Later I started to bring bologna sandwiches to scarf down so I’d have energy left for the afternoon.

Hey, look. When you talk of school lunches you’re going to run across a cafeteria that is not guided by great cuisine, but by the lowest bidder.
