School's out school's out, teacher let the mules out

So what are your plans for the summer? What are you gonna do about them kids if you have any? I am a music teacher and tech coordinator for my district and our school closes May 22nd. Here are my tentative plans for the summer.

Last week in May……have the wife ship the kid off to day care. Pay through the nose for it, but get to sleep late.

First week of June: Drive 3 hours to teachers workshop in OKC. A whole friggin week. However I get a free laptop and other goodies out of it.

Second week of June, enroll 10 year old in little league baseball. Follow him around to games and stay incredibly pissed off if he doesn’t get to start every game, even though a lot of his fellow teammates may be more athletically talented than he is.

Note to self. When he gets hit upside the head with the baseball, don’t ask if it hurts, it makes him cry.

Eat crap from the concession stands that you wouldn’t be caught dead eating anywhere else.

  • Note to self. Ask the team mother with the best looking legs if she has pool to host the end of the season pool party for team members .*

Third week in June: City pool opens officially. One o’clock PM. Thank you oh god of chlorine for the 4 straight hours of baby sitting. Might be the time for some hanky panky with mrs. aha… Pool closes at five o’clock. Shit. Then help mrs. aha ferry the kids from the pool to ball practice then to games and back to the pool.

Repeat 25 times over the next 3 weeks.

Fourth week in June: SSDD ( same shit different days)

First week in July: * Teach * 4 day computer workshop for teachers. Earn $500.00

Second week in July: Take ten year old and friend to Schlitterbahn a spring fed water park in San Antonio. Although scared shitless of flying will have to or drive for 8 hours. Cost for the whole trip? You guess it $500.00

Last two weeks in July: Lay around under the ceiling fan at home and be depressed because the school starts back up in the first week in August.

Ahhh well cest la vie’

As a fellow school employee who works year round, let me just say I hate you for having the summer off.

The summer is my busiest time at work. That’s when all the results from state testing (Texas Assessment of Academic Skills) come in and I’ll have to process hundreds of reports for board members and administrators. So while you’re in New Braunfels at Schlitterbahn, please think of me. BTW, wear plenty of sunscreen. The last time I was there, I got so sunburned that I had blisters on my chest.

Bite me bite me… I still have 40 more school days left. The kids are off the wall, testing has begun and the place is in an uproar!!

You lucky bastrads looking forward to summer. As I write this, its mid-afternoon on a cold, wet grey day, and all I have to look forward to is the onset of Winter.

Will do grace
