Science fiction songs?

I was going to leave this one for a Michael Moorcock/Hawkwind fan to point out . . . especially since Reality Chuck upthread pointed out the Moorcock/Hawkwind SF/rock-‘n’-roll nexus for us . . . ubt here goes:

Moorcock not only collaborated with the band on lyrics, he published a story, “Time of the Hawklords,” featuring the band as heroes who save the world.

“Planet Caravan” and “Into the Void,” both by Black Sabbath

“Third Stone From the Sun” by Jimi Hendrix (not to mention “Purple Haze” and any other number of other songs that stole lyrical imagery from SF)

“Through the Never” by Metallica

“I’m a Little Rocket Ship” by Cracker

And to whoever mentioned “Walking on the Moon” by the Police–it’s a love metaphor, not a drug metaphor.

Veteran of a Thousand Psychic Wars- Blue Oyster Cult

Most of Monster Magnet’s stuff is pretty heavily saturated with SF imagery.

Deltron 3030 is an SF hip-hop concept album by Dan the Automator and Del the Funkee Homosapien that just came out, and is currently rocking my world.
