I hear next they are going to start work on the “Sun rises in the east” hypothesis.
Scientists debunked that centuries ago!
I believe it was one named Galileo who was most famous for that.
No kidding. When I used to walk my Bernese Mountain Dog the few blocks to the park, he’d sometimes meet other dogs on the street and there would be lots of tail-wagging and nuzzles, and the same when he was running free in the park. But along the way to the park, there would be various houses apparently infested with house cats, and they would arch their backs and hiss as we walked past. He completely ignored them – he didn’t even look at them, just kept walking down the sidewalk, head up high or down calmly sniffing the ground, looking forward to some fresh air and a nice run in the park.
But all the cats were going nuts, trying to figure out how to kill this giant intruder who couldn’t care less about them and wanted nothing more than a nice romp in the park with all the other doggies.
Whatever would we do without scientists proving things we’ve all known for SIX THOUSAND YEARS?
Will they be starting on the “Is the Pope Catholic” conundrum, soon?
He wanted to eat their poop but had to act casual in case the kitties kaught on.
excellent username/post combo
Huh?
Anyway the study sounds like a perfectly reasonable one at that, animal psychology is incredibly fascinating when studied up close.
Sounds like some genius figured out a way to get paid for playing with cats. Bravo, sir or madam.
The thread title reminded me of the CNN headlines “Breaking News” story I saw on December 9, 2008 (the day Rod Blagojevich was arrested). Something about political corruption in Chicago. Hard hitting investigative journalism.
I suppose you’re not interested in funding this grant so that I can study the variability of spoor placement by ursid species relative to geographic changes in arboreal density, then?
I’d like some monies for locating lunar casein deposits reflecting around 510nm
In other research news, a recent article in Science has determined that half of the world’s population has a below average understanding of mathematics.
I can tell you the relationship is inversely proportional based on the amount I see on the gravel roads I drive on…
I wonder if Andrew Lloyd Webber can do a musical Based on this idea?

animal mind readers? ok.
Cameras are set up in the woods – to film the bears 24/7.
** Scientists determine cats are neurotic and unstable.**
No shit.
Scientists need to study my cat. He either is a species anomaly or has an illicit source of valium. I’ve never known another cat as free from neuroses as this one. Doesn’t jump at shadows or chase invisible critters, is friendly to all guests, lets visiting children pick him up, even comes eagerly to get his teeth brushed and his long hair combed. Maybe he’s really a dog? lol
I guess that means all you need to do to get a prescription now is show them your cat.
