Scotland's referendum on Independence 18 Sept 2014

12 out of 20. As an ignorant American, I consider that not too shabby.

I am pretty sure they already do. Of course, they are currently granted by Queen Elizabeth, but she is, and is expected to remain, queen of Scotland as well as of England (and Wales, Northern Ireland, Australia, Canada, etc.)

Ignorant American and I got 18. I still don’t think anyone who isn’t Scottish and who isn’t directly involved (and able to vote) really has much to say on this. I’m with Scott Manley on that one.

But as someone completely not involved, I actually hope the Scotts vote YES! on this one. It will be interesting to see how it plays out if they do.

Yes voters are far more vocal on social media. As a Scotsman my feed of those openly saying which way they intend to vote is roughly 8 to 1 in favour of Yes. I suspect my friends on social media are more likely to be Yes voters, but I do not expect all my social media friends to break in quite those numbers.

Yay!

Boo!

Fair’s fair.

Any non-Scot who scores better than 15 on this test earns the right to have their comments about Scottish Independence taken seriously.

Ten.

No True Scotsman fails the test.

Chalk it up to spell checker posting from my phone. :stuck_out_tongue:

I think you may have misread the question. Those are all wrong answers because they are TRUE statements about James, and you were supposed to pick the FALSE one.

Too late, your status as honorary Scotchman is denied!

Damn…and I always wanted to be a Scot too! :frowning: I love the kilts and the accent. Plus, who doesn’t love Scott Manley???

It’s too bad the Scottish National Party (SNP) didn’t name themselves the Scottish National Independence Party (SNIP.) Not only would SNIP be easier to pronounce than SNP, but the “SNIP” could be taken to signify severance from the UK.

“Snip, Snip, Snip, Snip, Snip, Snip, Snip, Snip!”

YouGov polling company sticking their necks out and saying it’ll be 54% in favour of no. Based on Internet polling on how people say they’ve voted.

If you can’t trust internet polls, what can you trust?

Hey, hey, hey…he just talking about Bob and Georgine, the Scotts. Get off his back :D.

That’s based on a re-poll of people they’ve already polled, after they’ve been to the polls.

I wonder if any of them were Poles?

Almost certainly. I heard from some quiz somewhere that Poles are the largest group of foreign-born residents in Scotland.

Re-polling Poles who have already been polled after they’ve been to the polls is likely just Polish pollsters polling Poles.

I won’t touch that with a ten foot pole, or a nine foot Italian…

First result in, from the splendidly-named Clackmannanshire, and it’s exactly in line with the aforementioned pole, I mean poll: 54% No. Only a small area, but one the pundits are saying Yes might have hoped to win.
