Scotland's referendum on Independence 18 Sept 2014

My score, but I got a couple of guesses right. Also from John Oliver I knew the national animal.

  • Question ----

Assuming a No vote, how soon can we expect another referendum on the same question?

Orkney goes no, 10,004 to 4,883. Not really a surprise there. Total votes counted so far:

Yes: 21,233
No: 29,040

Don’t expect another one any time soon. If Devo Max is delivered as promised, I wouldn’t expect this question to come up again within the next 20 years.

If it’s not, as seems at least possible, I dunno. Still not soon. It’s been a fascinating couple of years in Scotland, but I don’t think we’re in a hurry to repeat this.

Shetlands in, no 9,951 to 5,669.

Six other districts supposed to report soon.

Comhairle nan Eilean Siar (aka The Western Isles), No, 10,544 to 9,195.

BBC News has a special live update as the count goes on.

The numbers that turned out to vote are amazing. 80% and up turnout and it included 16 and 17 year olds. It seems likely that the UK will stay united. Results won’t be official until Friday.

I think its** very important** that the new powers promised to Scotland are actually implemented. The Yes vote for Independence is close to 40% and the politicians need to see that as a clear warning that change must come.

That’s very reassuring, because I scored ten also.

Looks the UK will remain united for now.
