The way it was just explained here on TV is that Glasgow was expected to be “Yes” and it was, but not enough to tip the balance, and Edinburgh I don’t believe is in yet and is expected to add to the “No” side. The fat lady hasn’t sung yet but she’s tuning up.
Here’s a nice page: Scottish independence referendum - Results - BBC News
Sad bagpipe
And with that, I’m going to bed. Other people can update with the last 6 districts.
Frankie Boyle. Guy is hilarious. Deeply, deeply offensive. But hilarious.
I’m not trying to make fun of you, but now I’m wondering what the Price is Right’s “fail tuba” would sound like on bagpipes instead.
Fat lady to sing soon. Likely song is to be Rule Britannia.
I don’t give a shite, my grandparents’ generation had the sense to cut and run so I don’t have to.
The largest city, Glasgow went Yes. The Capital, Edinburgh voted quite firmly No.
This has been quite an exemplary example of a democracy in action. 86% voter turnout.
No from Edinburgh.
NO 1,700,321 55.34
YES 1,372,216 44.66
The turnout was fantastic. Would that more democracies could rally their people so.
No 1,737,464
Yes 1,398,540
BBC is now reporting a win for the No votes. I guess the counting will go on another day or two? But with this lead the outcome won’t shift.
No from Fife.
NO 1,877,252 55.38
YES 1,512,688 44.62
And Moray.
NO 1,914,187 55.42
YES 1,539,920 44.58
Except for the whole ‘Tramadol Nights’ misadventure. That was just bad. Painfully, painfully bad.
The last time Sweden’s voter turnout for a General Election dipped below 80% was 1958. There are other European countries with similar levels.
(With apologies in advance to anyone offended)
This made me laugh:
[QUOTE=(not) David Cameron]
The people of Scotland have spoken, but we can’t understand them.

…and he’s gone. Salmond has resigned.
