Scramble to save Vulcan - Appeal

Quick update - the club is doing a stand in London on 4th March (today) in Leicester Square. They’ve only just got permission, and should be bringing along a ten foot model of the Vulcan.

The scramble review is now up at Scramble review Apparently some news sources thought the Vulcan itself would be running round the motorways to visit the sites…not sure what they thought would happen with the trail of flattened streetlights it would leave.

One last update:

After the Scramble, Leicester Square etc, according to the press release that just went out:

The Vulcan WILL be flying next year!

Excellent news!

After a time, you may find that ‘having’ is not so pleasing a thing, after all, as ‘wanting’. It is not logical, but it is often true.

(psst…wrong type of vulcan).

Most of her supporters would much rather be “having” than “wanting”. We did the wanting for many years. We got to have her display for only one so far. Hopefully she’s got many more years ahead of her.

Do the jet engines share any parts with modern engines? Or is this all 1950’s technology-with spares having to be made up specially?

IIRC the wing design itself and much of the technology involved the design process of the wing was used extensively in Concorde - shame there isn’t one of those airworthy.
