Screw Greg Abbott {Texas Governor}

It’s a scorched birth policy.

This is important because Fort Bend isn’t some liberal oasis like Austin or inner-urban county like Dallas. It’s a historically Republican suburb of Houston that’s grown more “swingy” in recent years. If Abbott’s getting told to stuff it here, he could be in trouble.

Maybe, maybe not. It’s the most ethnically diverse county in Texas, with a lot of Asian Americans, who tend not to be as virulently anti-mask, even when conservative.

Even after mask mandates were dropped, indoor masking was still very common here in Sugar Land. Much less so the couple times I went over to Rosenberg.

Well, I take that back. The San Antonio Northside school district is saying the masks are only “strongly encouraged” in opposition to the San Antonio mask mandate. Jerks.

School districts get a lot of their money from the state, and Abbott would have no compunction about withholding it. It’s not an easy call for them.

I’m not sure Abbott CAN legally withhold funding. Certainly it’s not an enumerated gubernatorial power in the Texas Constitution.

Hasn’t stopped him so far. . .

Meanwhile, here in Colorado, there’s a whole bunch of Republicans who are complaining about our dictatorial governor.

I suppose it’s just a coincidence that Gov. Polis is a Democrat.

IOKWARDI

Same as it ever was.

Just saw this today, although it’s dated from Aug. 7:

Abbott fiddles while Texas burns! Literally.

Okay, fuck twitter for not letting me display the photo here. Y’all just have to click on that to see it. Yes, it’s a pic of Abbott at some kind of big Texas BBQ, playing the fiddle.

Cited here:

Here ya go. And what does he mean “Austin County”? It’s TRAVIS County, you bonehead!

This objection is not fair or rational.

There actually is an Austin County, though as such things go it’s closer to Houston than Austin.

Doing his best Nero impression, I see.

And a Houston County that’s closer to Nacogdoches than Houston. And a Colorado County that isn’t in Colorado at all!

Unless he was actually in Austin County, then it shows he either doesn’t know where he is or he doesn’t care.

It’s Austin County, the officer in one of the pictures is wearing an Austin County Sherriff’s patch on his sleeve.

Apologies to MF Greg. I stand corrected. On that.

Same.

Oh, totally fuck that guy.

I just think he should be criticized for stuff like not being able to keep the power on and for a pandemic that’s spiraling totally out of control in the state (among the other things that turn Texas into a clusterfuck) and not if he knows his physical location.

As it happens, at least he knows where he is.Though not what he is doing. He doesn’t have mental infirmity to blame for the other stuff.
