Professor under fire for tweet that appeared to support ‘white genocide’
You know, I almost fell for that explanation until I read the next paragraph

Me, I’ve never gotten the whole race/racism thing. People are such assholes and of all the perfectly good reasons to dislike someone, they go with color.

He’s right about one thing, white genocide is an imaginary concept invented by white supremacists.
Present day America doesn’t strike me as comparable to colonial Haiti so I doubt there’s much chance for this happening. That country’s 1791 slave uprising and revolution ended a long race-war started by European colonialists in 1492.
The man is now claiming his message is just a parody of the pig-brained useless racists who loudly, on the internet and everywhere else, think that any non-white, non-racist person of influence and any proponent of racial/ethnic inclusion is a harbinger of “white genocide,” which, since there is no such thing as white genocide, just the inevitable decline of dimwitted white supremacy, does not present any actual (immediate) threat to them.
He should probably not have written his tweet so graphically, but even if he hadn’t, the pig-brained, useless racists would have their fun anyhow.
In any event, since the professor didn’t actually enslave or murder anyone, he’s not as bad as the people he condemns.

What morally bankrupt, ethically empty, religiously maladjusted, kind of intellectually inert lump do you have to be to think both that hating is okay (stand down, you express plenty) but also that hating one’s own race is beyond (excuse the expression) the pale?

Anyone who unironically utters (or publishes) the phrase “hater of his own race” probably thinks that a decent person can use “illegal” as a noun, and deserves either scorn or pity (possibly a combination of the two).

I certainly can’t blame Haitian slaves for committing violence against their masters and supporters of their masters in their quest to be free. Similarly, I wouldn’t judge any concentration/death camp internee for killing Nazis in their quest to be free (or even in the chaos of the aftermath), and I wouldn’t judge any American slaves and abolitionists, like Nat Turner or John Brown, for committing violence against slavers and supporters of slavery. Slavery is a crime against humanity, and slaves (and abolitionists) are entirely justified in using any and all efforts, including deadly force, to free themselves and their fellow slaves.

It doesn’t sound like the response of someone who was genuinely advocating “white genocide” to me.
It should be mentioned that Ciccariello-Meyer’s tweets were not public, but made from a protected account.
Now, I’ll grant that this was a stupid thing to do. He should have realized that some people, such as the OP, were so naive and gullible as to take it at face value. But the OP calling for his death in response to this is what’s really beyond the pale.
