Which means the party’s focus will be on religious issues primarily, which is a good way to drive people towards the Dems again. A bit counterproductive, especially if Obama’s managed to turn the country in the right direction.
Dammit! That made me laugh and spit coffee!

What DoctorJ said. There’s a long tradition of that sort of thing in American families.
64 percent of Republicans want Palin to run for President in 2012.:
Here’s a direct link to the poll.
All I can say is that the next four years will define the GOP for the next four decades. If it can pull through as a single party with all of the constituent blocks it held in 2000 and 2004 I’ll be amazed.
I have to wonder if this isn’t the reason McCain staffers are bashing Palin so hard right now. They know they brought the monster to life. Now, for the good of the party they are trying to drive a stake through its heart before it gets too big to kill.
I say that everyone who voted for Obama now pushes for Palin to run in 2012. They won’t be able to keep her isolated with her at the top of the ticket, so the public will get to see exactly how stupid she is, and so long as Obama can refrain from saying, “Jane, you poor ignorant slut.” during any of the debates, his reelection will be assured.
Part of the reason for selecting Palin was to appeal to the masses of PUMAs that were supposedly disaffected from the Democratic Party after Hillary lost the primaries. I suspect that some of the Republican inner circle is sweating bullets at the thought of a real PUMA schism causing a lot of their base to sit on their hands if Palin gets shot down in the 2012 primaries.
Dick Cheney will telepathically strangle her now: “Apology accepted - Mrs Palin”.
You misspelled “telekinetically,” unless you think dying in our dreams means we die in real life.
Darth Pedant
I’d be willing to entertain the notion that Cheney is actually Freddy Krueger.
[Dr. Freud] So you think your Vice President is a child molestor. Interesting. [/DF]
Now, see, that was one slur that DID bother me-the accusation that Trig was actually Bristol’s child. If only because it probably hurt Bristol more than it did her mother-and she had enough to contend with-what with being pregnant and all. Yeah, I cannot STAND her mother-but what the hell did she do to deserve any of this bullshit? (It’s like when poor Chelsea Clinton had to endure everyone trashing her looks just because they didn’t like her father)
- isn’t it time for him to step up in defense of his running mate? I’ve no love and very little respect for Palin, yet even I think some of the attacks are unsportsmanlike.
Doesn’t McCain have a little bit of an obligation to try to keep her from being destroyed?
Well, she had a responsibility to stay on message and not destroy his campaign. i’d call it even
Guin, I understand your position on that. But the whole, long-drawn out flight thing that day… it’s just something I can’t comprehend, risking your life and your child’s life for no reason at all. Even when they got back to Alaska, going the hell and gone a few hours further past three perfectly good hospitals.
It’s not that I hoped it was Bristol’s child. I was saying, ‘Well… yeah, but I can understand if it were that way.’ The other option… it just makes no sense.
I understand that, and I think what she did was inexcusable as well. Just that I also feel bad for Bristol-and really, from what I’ve read, the timing of the two pregnancies make it impossible. (Add in that it’s more common for a woman in her forties to have a Downs child, and well, there you have it.)
I wasn’t saying anyone HERE-you or DoctorJ necessarily were bashing her, either. But the slams from the left seemed to me just as bad as those against Chelsea.
Yep, this is the “prominent blog” I referred to in my post a few pages back.
Do not underestimate how angry Palin’s fans are about this whole business.
Hello? Yes?
Oh… Never mind.
