Well, considering that the story involves four people directly and dozens more indirectly, and that your OP contained less substance than most bathroom stalls, I wasn’t sure. Thanks for the update. I’m interested in why you think the reporter seems to have known it was a hoax, but other than that I completely agree with you.

Plus, I find it hard to believe that he could cover the story for TWO YEARS and never have an inkling that something was amiss. I mean, yeah, he was just a college student, not a full-time reporter, but that degree of cluelessness is a bit hard to swallow.
If it turns out he really wasn’t involved I’ll change my option of him from “scum” to “idiot”.

Two different reporters. The professional one from Chicago chased her down to confirm and broke the hoax. The college idioter was the one in the know.
