SDMB All-Pro Fantasy Football 2014

Why are there 6 playoff teams when this is only a 12 team league? Also, how the hell did I lose four straight after a 6-2 start?

We started with 6 because the idea of having byes seemed fun, and it just kind of stuck.

Frosted Lightning is our champion 2014 champion. Congratulations to him. He’s been us since year 2 and it’s his first. He is both our playoff champion and our points champion, so a well deserved victory both ways.

I was just in the middle of making a list sorted by total points scored, but yahoo apparently turned off stat-tracker right in the middle of it, so I may add it up manually later if I’m not too lazy.

Results sorted by score.

Team / record (including playoffs and consolation bowl) / points scored / official finish. Number of games played varies based on byes and how down a bracket one got.

  1. Frosted Glass / 14-2 / 1785 / 1
  2. Jimmy Chitwood / 9-8 / 3
  3. RNATB / 8-9 / 1618 / 4
  4. Ol’Gaffer 8-8 / 1609 / 9
  5. Kiros 10-6 / 1533 / 2
  6. SenorBeef / 7-10 / 8
  7. Munch / 8-7 / 1500 / 6
  8. D_Odds / 6-10 / 1437 / 10
  9. Petey / 6-9 / 1421 / 11
  10. Overly Sentimental 8-9 / 1406 / 7
  11. Omniscient / 8-5 / 1333 / 5
  12. Retrovertigo / 4-11 / 1216 / 12

I’m in 4 leagues (3 SDMB) and I stunk in all of them. I blame it on the following:

Drew Brees (had him in all 4 leagues)
Marshawn Lynch (2 leagues)
Rashad Jennings (2 leagues)
Torrey Smith (2 leagues)
Calvin Johnson (2 leagues)
Jordan Reed (2 leagues)
Ryan Matthews (2 leagues)
Jimmy Graham
Montee Ball
Every defense I played (and in my non-SDMB IDP league, every defensive player I played)

The only other players (and I’m going off the top of my head, not researching) that were on multiple teams were Charles Sims and Doug Baldwin, but both spent far more time on my bench than in my starting lineup, filling in only for injury/bye when nothing else was available.

The biggest problem I had with those marquee players was inconsistency, some due to injuries, some due to who-knows-what. It was rare that I could the whole team to perform at even the level predicted by Yahoo!, as if their predictions meant anything at all.

Beef, you left out your own points scored, but obviously it is somewhere between 1500 and 1533, FWIW.

I finished third in everything. Except HHM, where I was dead last. Thanks, AP.

Frosted was a worthy champion indeed - Andrew Luck’s final week notwithstanding, his team was far and away the best this year. Congrats!

It was an awesome year after a slow start for me. Glad to finally hoist the All-Pro trophy! Pretty sure I’ll never complain about an auction draft anytime soon.
