Did you guys see that the new software archives itself? Apparently, it goes all the way back to 2000. I wonder if it also contains stuff the Winter of Missed Content.

Aren’t those pre-generated static pages? Sure would be nice to let El Goog snarf them up. I mean, where’s the logic in putting information on the Internet and then worrying about “protecting your content”? Anyway…
That data was actually lost. The server’s hard drives went kaput, and it was discovered too late that the backup tapes only held 2 gigs of the more-than-2-gigs database. What we recovered from is just what was on the backup tapes, hence, nothing from the Winter of Missed Content exists any more on the SDMB’s servers.
Some of it does, however, exist (or at least, did at one time) in cached form, on boardreader and other archives.
